The graphic and listing below describes the basic elements of the Consumer Log screen:

[A] The Date Note the log concerns can be either hand typed or selected from the calendar control adjacent to the date field.

[B] The Contact Type must be selected from the pull down list provided.

[C] If Face to Face is selected as the Contact Type, then the Location pull down list box appears and offers a list of locations where the contact could occur. Make the selection.

[D] The space provided for the log’s text. Notice that this window has many of the same features as a word processor.

[E]
allows the worker to save the data they have typed and remain on the Consumer
Log screen.
[F]
saves the data the worker has typed and returns them to the main log screen.
[G]
erases all the text and pull down menu selections on the screen and presents
the worker with the main log screen.
[H]
allows the worker to directly leave the screen and search for a log note
by various criteria that was previously saved.
[I]
closes the screen and erases the text/data entered on the screen.
Note #1: Save your work frequently. USTEPS has a time-out feature that automatically closes the worker’s session if they leave it idle for more than 30 minutes. Typing text does not count as actively using the system. Consequently, the 30 minute time-out could expire if the worker is spending more than that amount of time composing one log note.
Note #2: Text should not be copy/pasted into the text box because the source of the copied text may include hidden characters that the USTEPS database cannot process. If the text is pasted with hidden characters, it can cause the log notes to fail to operate or display garbage in the text area.
