Eliminate Ongoing Service

Definition:

If the person no longer needs the full support and prescription of an ongoing service as it is defined on the PCSP Budget, then it means the person’s situation or circumstances have changed significantly enough to warrant eliminating it from the budget.

Procedure:

The permanent elimination of a service does not have to be justified by criteria in the Request for Services.  Rather, it can be implemented directly on the budget screen inside the request.  In order to implement the reduction, the worker must respond to three questions that will build the budget line for the “Elimination”.  Each one contributes information toward a holistic view regarding how much of the rate increase will impact the person’s needs.

Explanation:

The following three questions must be completed in order to submit the Request that includes an “Elimination”.

What date will the service end?

This question asks for the date the person will no longer receive the service.  The date must align with the actual service delivery schedule agreed to by the provider.  That is, the provider cannot legitimately continue delivering the service after it has been discontinued in the plan.  Consequently, the date must be accurate.

How many units of the service were spent in the Active plan?

This question asks for the number of units that have been spent delivering the service to the person.  The worker may need to review and corroborate the paid units with the provider before determining what the number will be.

How many units of the service will be permanently removed from the next plan cycle?

This questions asks for the full twelve month prescription the service currently represents.  The number of units should match the prescription / money allocated to the service in the Active plan.  After the Request is approved, the money associated with the service will be permanently removed from the Pro Forma budget.  Consequently, the worker should ensure that the units and rate for the service are accurate.
