Introduction to Waiting for Services

People who are found eligible for State services during the Intake process are placed into a "waiting for services" (wait list) status in USTEPS.  While waiting for services a variety of processes are required.  Initially a Person must have their needs assessed to establish their ranking while waiting for services.  The ranking is very important because it determines the order for transitioning people into services when funding is available.

Each Person waiting for services must also be contacted yearly with the annual wait list survey.  The waitlist survey is intended to document that the Person is still interested in services.  In addition, the annual survey is an opportunity to inform DSPD if their needs have changed and if the needs assessment should be updated.

Finally, each individual must have an accurate and up to date identification of the services they would be interested if they are transitioned into services.  Accurate monitoring of needed services is critical because this information is used to annually request funding from the Utah State Legislature to transition People into services.
